Wasgamuwa National Park is a natural park in Sri Lanka situated in the Matale and Polonnaruwa Districts. It was declared to protect and to make a refuge for the displaced wild animals during the Mahaweli Development Project in 1984 and is one of the four National Parks designated under the Project.

Wasgamuwa National Park
The Wasgamuwa National Park is located in close proximity to the cultural triangle and the central hills of Sri Lanka and can be accessed through Polonnaruwa and Dambulla. It is a contiguous area which connects to Minneriya national park which comprises of elephant country where by the most number of elephants can be encountered. The park is not as popular compared to the other national parks in the country, yet it is still a place of interest for many. It was declared a national park in 1984 and is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna with over 23 different types of species including bears, elephants and many more.
